All that matters is not just a healthy mom and baby that survived birth and postpartum.
Our experiences affect more than just our immediate health. They have physical, mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual ripples that flow into the rest of our lives.
Hi, I’m Heather.

It is my mission to reflect the power we all have as mothers to my clients. Through this, I hope they claim their right to birth and mother as they desire, intuit, and need.
Women do not need to be told how to mother. We do not need to be told what to choose within our motherhood experiences, but rather to have the freedom and education to make informed choices.
I honor that each mother will intuitively choose the care that best fits her needs. This is why I support women choosing all paths during birth and postpartum.
I take a holistic approach when offering education, emotional support, physical (non-medical) support, advocacy, and my personal/professional experience to support your unique journey.
Witnessing and supporting my clients step into their fullest power as they become mothers over and over is my dream. I still can’t believe I get to do this most days.
My Education and Trainings
In 2022, I trained as a holistic birth, postpartum, and bereavement doula. This gifted me a deep, holistic understanding of what motherhood can be through a broad range of experiences. I learned how to seek out evidence-based information, an initial understanding of the physiology of birth, and how many birth and postpartum options are available.

In 2023, I trained with Freebirth Society in their Radical Birthkeeper course. This course paved the way for me to give birth at home unassisted. It was a crash course in unlearning systematic fear of birth. Now I know how to attend a birth like the sacred event it is and how to be mindful of not disturbing the hormones of physiologic birth.
I maintain my pediatric and adult first aid, CPR, and AED skills through the Red Cross.

I graduate this year with my associate’s degree in professional communications from Ivy Tech College. I tailored my classes to improve my advocacy and health sciences understanding to better serve my clients. Now I can better navigate cultural differences and the patient-provider gap.
My Motherhood Experiences

I’m a mother of two amazing kids. I’ve had an unmedicated birth center birth followed by a rocky NICU stay and isolating postpartum. I’ve also had a freebirth at home (birth with just my family, no providers present) and a blissful postpartum full of support and connection.
Both experiences were sacred and have been fruitful lessons and blessings.
The landscape of my career currently looks like attending women during the biggest moments of their lives. Whether they are meeting their baby and themselves as a mother for the first time or breastfeeding at home with a toddler running around, I am honored to walk alongside my clients.
Why am I “The Bookworm Doula”?

Because I am a bookworm DUH!
All jokes aside, reading is a huge part of my life. It is actually what brought me to this work.
During my first pregnancy, I read every article, study, and book I could get my hands on. I often wondered if it was a fleeting interest due to being pregnant. Here I am five years later, and the fire still burns.
When my clients work with me, I will often lend them books as a resource and inspiration. Books are a huge resource to women looking to reclaim birth and postpartum as a powerful experience.
My doula work has been greatly inspired by writers like Rachel Reed, Dr. Sara Buckley, Yolande Norris Clark, Heng Ou, and more prolific and lesser-known genius women.
You’ll find me ending most of my days reading about how to rage against the industrial birth system or maybe cuddled up with a good old romance book.
